Zurich – The most luxurious of Volvo cars in 89 years of history, the four-seater XC90 exclusive Excellence, makes its European debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.


THE HIGH-END VOLVO

Based on the award-winning XC90 SUV, the XC90 Excellence high-end range reinforces the company’s reputation as a premium manufacturer.

It offers broad leather lining upholstery of the highest quality and crystal glasses from Orrefors, the famous Swedish glassworks.

The superior comfort of the adjustable individual rear seats, combined with a massage function and specially designed head-rests, is accentuated by a fridge, two retractable shelves and cooling or heating cup holders.

The XC90 is built from the Volvo SPA platform (Scalable Product Architecture) and is equipped with the award-winning hybrid T8 Twin Engine plug-in series, offering three different driving modes for a single vehicle: Pure, Hybrid and Power. The Volvo XC90 Excellence can deliver 410 hp and extremely low emissions.

The PowerPulse technology is designed to maximize the diesel engine’s performance, while the petrol T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid will provide an output of about 410 hp from a range in pure 50 km electric mode, “says Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Volvo Cars.

The Volvo XC90 will be presented to the public at its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show from 3rd to 13th of March 2016.

AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY ONLINE

For now, the XC90 Excellence can only be ordered online on selected markets, reflecting the growing importance of electronic commerce in Volvo’s sales and marketing strategy.

It follows in the footsteps of the XC90 First Edition, a special limited edition of 1927 individually numbered cars and sold exclusively online at www.volvocars.com.All 1927 XC90 First Edition models, celebrating 1927, the year Volvo was founded, sold out in 48 hours after the start of sales in 2014.

Online sales of the XC90 Excellence have now started in Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg, while China will follow suit in the spring.

So for now, the model is only available online, it will be available at the AUTOBRITT AUTOMOBILES S.A. dealership in a few months time.

Developed following the success of the “First Edition” pilot project, the e-commerce platform is an important component of Volvo’s overall marketing strategy. Its use will expand as Volvo starts selling its online models worldwide, in addition to dealerships.
